Public's Chance to Speak on New Park Proposals

THE public can have its say on a new park proposed for Middlesbrough. Three hectares of land in Nunthorpe have been set aside for a public open space south of Guisborough Road as part of Middlesbrough Council's newly adopted Housing Local Plan.

A local Nunthorpe Resident Steering Group -comprising ward councillors, community council, parish councillors and local residents - has been working with the council to set the framework of the space.

The open space and outdoor equipment and facilities at the site will be paid for by money from the Grey Towers Village housing development.

Nunthorpe ward councillor Brenda Thompson said: "I am delighted that the work between residents, ward councillors and Middlesbrough Council over a number of months has resulted in this very exciting scheme for Nunthorpe now going for consultation.

"I expect a big response as I am already picking up great enthusiasm from all age groups. …
