TEAM Northumbria can cement their top-four place with a win at Hemel Royals on Saturday (7.00) after knocking spots off second-placed Essex Leopards at Sport Central.

The title-chasing Leopards headed north in pursuit of top spot but Marc Steutel's men were in no mood to give up the win.

TN cruised to an 82-73 victory to stun the Leopards and move to within two points of third place.

A fifth win in six games delighted head coach Marc Steutel.

He said: "It was a good result to go with a good performance.

"The team played at a high level against topquality opposition. "We were defensively strong against a very talented team."

The hosts made a fast start to the game and established a 26-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Steutel added: "You always want to gain a hold on the game as fast as you can.

"We did that against Essex but basketball is never won in the first quarter and you have to maintain your concentration throughout the game. …
