Neighbor Mourns Victim of Fire, 'Very Giving' Man; Domestic Dispute Leads to Deadly Blaze; Second Man Hospitalized

Wanda Brown said her next-door neighbor on Jacksonville's Eastside had a heart of gold.

Whether it was helping neighbors do handy work around the house or taking in people who needed help, she said the man never hesitated to help a friend.

Brown said he recently took in one of those friends for a second time. She said she was fearful over that act of kindness since she said the man her neighbor took in argued with him shortly after they first met months earlier.

Friday morning, Brown stood in front of her neighbor's burned-out home and was trying to make sense of what happened late Thursday night when a domestic dispute involving the men led to the death of one of the men, while the second was hospitalized with severe burns.

Brown said she thought the second man also died, but authorities couldn't confirm that. Police have yet to release details such as the victims' identities or the motive.
