Shows Will Tell Story of Anzacs; Gallipoli-Themed Productions Planned

THE 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing will be a strong influence on the Sunshine Coast theatre scene this year.

The thriving Sunshine Coast Theatre Alliance, which now encompasses 12 different groups, came together on Saturday night for the annual soiree event.

The night calls for a celebration of Sunshine Coast performing arts and the 100-strong crowd of guests certainly did that.

The Sunshine Coast Theatre Alliance Soiree was an opportunity to unveil the year's schedule of plays, musical theatre and choir performances.

BATS, Performing Arts Kollective and BYTES will all stage Gallipoli-themed productions this year. A major highlight of the year will be the premiere of David Williamson's new show Cruise Control at Noosa Arts Theatre. The cast has barely assembled and already 500 seats have been sold to the April shows.

Alliance president Sam Coward heralded the Coast theatre scene as one that was thriving, enthusiastic and packed full of talent. …
