Restaurant Orsay has announced it is adding Saturday brunch service beginning Jan. 3. Riverside, brunching just got better!

We've noticed a growing list of restaurants who offer the most gracious of the day's repasts and, for those of us who rise a little late in the day for breakfast, it's a delicious proposition.

When Candy Apple Cafe opened earlier this month with a Tuesday through Sunday brunch menu, we were intrigued. So far, crowds have been flocking to the new space, and my brunch scouts report the Lemon Ricotta pancake is the star of the plate.

What's new in our dining world:

- Latin Soul Grille is one of the latest food trucks to roll into the hearts of Jacksonville diners. We recently tried it out during a lunch service at Jax Food Truck Food Court and were pleasantly surprised at the delicious fusion of Latin and soul food flavors. Jibaritos, pasteles, empanadas, tostones - all have been outstanding. Never fear, they have pulled pork, too. Follow Latin Soul Grille on Facebook and get in line soon.

- Tomo Japanese on Penman Road in Jacksonville Beach is now open for lunch Tuesday through Sunday, with specials on sushi, ramen and more. Ramen burger and a boba tea, please!

- We've been telling you about The Loving Cup Hash House, opening in early January at 610 Third St. S. in Jacksonville Beach. They are now hiring front and back of house staff, and have announced an opening day of Jan. 13. Hours will be 6 a.m.-6 p.m.

Feeling festive?

- Tuesday through Sunday, Bistro Aix in San Marco and sister restaurant Ovinte at the St. Johns Town Center will each feature special dishes and $20 off all champagne by the bottle on New Year's Eve. Bistro Aix will offer specials from its recently introduced raw bar as well. Reservations at (904) 398-1949 for Bistro Aix, (904) 900-7730 for Ovinte.

- Also in San Marco, Taverna will be open for dinner until 11 p.m. on New Year's Eve, so leave the cooking to us and relax with a special menu from Chef Sam. …
