WHO doesn't love a good sporting redemption story?

It's heart-warming to see an athlete who has battled back from adversity to reach the top of their chosen sport again.

Sometimes it's a crippling injury which puts a career on hold. Other times it is overcoming a personal tragedy.

But I'm not sure I'd rank returning to an elite competition after a prison stint as one of those feel good stories.

Former Knights forward Danny Wicks was set to make his NRL return for new club Parramatta in a trial match against the Wests Tigers overnight.

For those who don't know the story, Wicks played his last game for Newcastle on September 12, 2009, before he was convicted of drug trafficking and sentenced to 18-months prison.

He was released in March, 2013, and has worked his way back through park football to earn a place in the Eels line-up.

Good on Wicks for making the effort to turn his life around, but I really don't believe he deserves another shot in the NRL. …
