Zane Beadles, who signed with the Jaguars last March as a free agent, was an ironman for the Jaguars at left guard this year. He not only started 16 games, he played every snap.

In a conversation with Vito Stellino of the Times-Union, Beadles talked about his first season with the Jaguars.

Is it normal for you to take every snap?

I think that is four years in a row for me. My rookie year, I didn't start two games.

So you take pride in playing every snap?

That's a big deal for me. I take pride in that. I work really hard in the offseason to make sure I'm in good shape and I'm able to do that.

Any injuries that came close to forcing you to the sidelines?

I was pretty lucky this year for the most part. I stayed out of a lot of that stuff.

How do you evaluate your season this year?

Ups and downs. I thought we grew as a unit. I thought I grew as a player. I definitely want to continue to improve. There's plenty I know I need to work on personally and plenty we need to work on as a group and as an offense.

What do you have to work on?

I think continuing to grow into the leadership role. There were some growing pains for me this year and learning how to handle that situation. Physically, I'm always looking to get stronger and faster and all that kind of stuff so I work real hard in the offseason on that. Continue to improve on technique. Those are the things I really try to look at.

Was this your first year in a leadership role?

In this capacity, yes. I love it. It's a big reason why I wanted to come here. I'm still learning how to handle all that.

It's been great working with them. We have a great group of guys. We really enjoy each other. …
