AN ambitious 16-year-old girl has joined a peace movement in hopes of making a difference to the world.

Year 11 Chinchilla State High School student Katie Gersekowski has signed up to be a social media correspondent for the World Peace Caravan movement.

The World Peace Caravan movement has created a cease fire petition which members will take to the Middle East on their quest for peace in December.

Katie Gersekowski said she had always been passionate about world peace.

"I feel like this is a great movement to help inspire young people and educate them that it is possible to make a change in the world and this is where you can start," Katie said.

"My role as a social media correspondent is to educate people on the importance of world peace.

"I have always wanted to step outside of the normality of everyday life and now I am able to.

"The petition needs one million signatures and at the moment they only have around 3000 so they have a long way to go yet," she said. …
