WHERE do you see your life going? How are you going to get there? And when you do, how will you feel? Yes, six weeks in and it seems, like many people who start out full of hope in January, it's time to look at some of the big questions about this whole endeavour.

Things have been going well and as my time with Northern Irish lads Daire and Ronan from Alchemist Life in Gateshead's Team Valley comes to a close I find myself 11lbs lighter than a month ago, more than three inches thinner, my moobs are reducing and my thighs no longer threaten to catch fire due to friction when I run.

But what next? How to keep yourself going after the initial euphoria? It was these and other questions I was asked as I found myself undergoing one of the pair's unusual approaches to the training game - life coaching.

Sitting in the basement of a townhouse next to Northumbria University - which by day was some form of skin clinic - I was asked to try and answer the sorts of difficult questions about our motives, hopes and dreams.

What do I want from all this? Well, at the end of the day it has to be health and vanity be dammed - not least because having discovered the level of protein required just to repair and maintain yourself, I now feel pity for all those who starve and constipate themselves for that Geordie Shore-alike "ripped to death" physique.

How would it feel to get there? Hopefully great - as with a weight lifted from my shoulders, and literally from my knees, I'd like to think I might be setting myself up to avoid a lifetime of joint problems. And what would it allow me to do? Already I'm seeing a change in diet has cut my usual carb coma around two hours after lunch, and in turn my desire to escape it with caffeine, jelly babies and other unhealthy foods is having a knock on effect - I'm sleeping better. …
