THE Vault will become an immersive natural experience that will explore leaf litter for what it actually is - the lifeblood of nature with Mary Elizabeth Barron's latest exhibition, Under Foot.

In this exhibition, Barron uses materials often referred to as green rubbish - the natural debris of fallen leaves, bark and twigs and recontextualises them through presentation in The Vault exhibition space.

"As a child I had done some basketry with recycled materials and then in 2007 I learnt a couple of other basketry techniques using natural fibres," she said.

"I quickly transferred these skills again to working with recycled materials and continue to do so. For Under Foot, I have come back to natural fibres enjoying their unique natural beauty. Each material has its own unique properties which must be respected and worked with to create the pieces."

The works in Under Foot are made entirely from natural materials found in Barron's yard and what she forages when walking in her neighbourhood. …
