Human Remains on Southside; Foul Play Suspected after Tipster Notifies Police of Grave Site

Article excerpt

Human remains found buried in a shallow grave on the Southside are being investigated as a criminal case.

Sgt. Dan Janson said foul play is suspected. "Beyond that, I don't want to make any more speculations," he said.

He said police received a call about the grave behind a business in the 11200 block of St. Johns Industrial Parkway about noon Sunday.

Investigators and evidence technicians began processing the scene and found the grave. Then police began finding human remains, Janson said Monday. He said the decomposed remains are believed to be a man's.

Processing the site could take at least another 24 hours as investigators look for evidence about what happened, Janson said.

After that, the body will be examined by the Medical Examiner's Office. Jansos said investigators found no evidence of any tranisent camps nearby.
