Heartless Thieves Snap Up Mac's Camera Equipment

WHILE Laidley photographer Mac Campbell slept, brazen thieves broke into his home and stole more than $5000 worth of camera equipment.

The disability pensioner took up photography 34 years ago and had made it his passion.

His talent for capturing photos saw him become a renowned speedway photographer across the Ipswich and Toowoomba area.

You may have seen him behind the lens at events like the Australian Speedway Championships at Willowbank or the Sprintcar Championships in Toowoomba.

The 54-year-old said he was "devastated" when he discovered all his cameras had been stolen on Tuesday morning.

"When I woke up, I noticed the side door on my garage was open, which I thought was suspicious," he said.

"I went into the spare room where all my cameras and equipment were kept and found everything was gone.

"They even took the memory cards."

Mr Campbell said it was believed the thieves entered the house between 5-7am. …
