Mandy Takes Her Aim at Cooran

Article excerpt

AUSTRALIAN comic Mandy Nolan is fearless poking fun at herself when she steps out on stage and into the spotlight.

It is an endearing quality and Mandy plans to hold no punches as she performs at the Cooran Hall tomorrow night.

The Byron Bay comic will draw on 28 years experience to have the crowd in fits of laughter with her sharp wit and cutting social commentary.

Her humour is described as sharp, honest, at times self-depreciating, and sometimes outrageous - but never cruel or pretentious.

Mandy is quick on her feet and loved for her rapid-fire mental gymnastics as she attempts to, in her own words, "navigate the new frontiers in the suburban badlands of human relationships".

The comic is not just about spoken words; she is also an artist, journalist, scriptwriter and memoirist.

She writes a column for the Byron Shire Echo and regularly writes for The Hoopla - an online website providing news through the eyes of women.

Mandy has rubbed shoulders with Australia comedy royalty including Will Anderson, Dave Hughes and Fiona O'Loughlin. …
