Manor Take Tiny Steps towards F1 Stability

NEW Manor owner Stephen Fitzpatrick has made clear the team's return to Formula One is simply and initially about survival.

The founder of Ovo Energy, however, sees no reason why in a few years' time they will not be looking back with pride on their achievements.

Northern Irishman Fitzpatrick last week emerged as the saviour of a team that a few months previously had entered into administration and appeared to have no hope of reclaiming their place on the F1 grid. But via an incredible amount of negotiation and hard work, the team formerly known as Marussia will be taking to the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne tomorrow for first practice ahead of the Australian Grand Prix.

Remarkably, due to other business commitments, Fitzpatrick will not be Down Under to see his marque in action, but instead watching from home via television.

The 37-year-old, though, is adamant he is determined to make Manor a success, despite the typical perils and pitfalls normally associated with F1 that lie ahead. …
