Safety in Sport: Who's Best to Make the Call?

THERE are moments I wish I could go back in time and grab a younger Adam Wratten by the collar and tell him not to be so foolish.

These days I'm paying the price for the cavalier approach to life I embraced in my late teens and early 20s.

I've played sports, mainly soccer, since I was a young boy.

There have been times where I've been hurt and rather than recover properly, I've put my body on the line to play again.

I'm convinced this approach has led to the frequent pains I get in my legs now. I worry that down the track, I will get arthritis and the thought of not being able to enjoy a walk with my dogs in latter years scares me. I wonder if I was the right person to make decisions about when I returned to playing and if others really spelt out the implications.
