Man Charged with Robbery Refused Bail

AN IPSWICH man with a history of breaching bail has been refused his freedom after a court deemed he posed too much of a risk of possibly hitting the drugs and re-offending if released.

Jason Graham Nightingale, 31, has been charged with stealing and robbery offences stemming from an incident with a woman in Ipswich on November 15 and 16 last year.

He has also been charged with another more serious offence.

Brisbane Supreme Court heard on Monday that Nightingale had a minor criminal history for dishonesty and drug-related offences, but it was his penchant for not reporting to police while on bail that led to his continued incarceration.

During a bail hearing, Crown prosecutor Matthew Hynes told the court Nightingale had been charged with stealing and robbery after allegedly taking money off an acquaintance after she had won on the pokies. He said Nightingale was also charged with a more serious offence after he turned up at the woman's home later in the evening. …
