Springfield Hawks Developing Strong Line-Up

SPRINGFIELD Hawks are gearing up for their biggest assault on the Barber Cup in the club's six year history.

The Hawks have sporadically shown signs they can beat the best in the past few seasons.

But with a squad of 50 players to choose from this season coach Jeremy Clark rates it the best in his time at the club.

The Hawks and Ipswich Rangers furthered their preparations for the start of the subdistricts rugby season on April 11 with trials on Friday.

They featured a mixture of first and second graders throughout, with Springfield scoring five tries to Rangers' two.

But Clark dismissed the importance of the result, rating both Rangers and the Hawks strong across the board.

"It was a good hit-out for both squads," he said.

"It was hard trying to get some momentum with Pegg and Barber Cup players mixed up.

"Ipswich were a solid outfit.

"I think both sides will be competitive."
