FRASER Coast District sides were selected as follows to represent the district at the 2015 State District Sides competition to be held from May 3-6 at the Sunshine Coast.

Hervey Bay's John Walker, Gordon Williams, Alan Johnson, Daryl Weymouth, Tony Smith, (Res) Nev Jamieson, Maryborough Services' Steve Henry, Mick Roy, Tony Williams, Urangan's Alan Burness, Bob Lane, Rainbow Beach's Barry Anderson, Troy Rowley, Cain Skerry, Kandanga's Brian Kunde, Jack Horne and The Albert's Brad Mitchell.

Managers are Alan Schatz and Peter Tinley and the coach is Jack Cahill.

Congratulations men, we all wish you the best of fortune in your endeavours and look forward to following your performances representing our district against the rest of the state's district teams.

Urangan players, their partners, officials and guests of the Urangan Bowls Club teams in the Taylor Wide Bay Challenge had a break-up night on Thursday.

It was all self funded and paid for by raffles and bowls days during the season.

Heaps of great food provided by the club challenge sub-committee and prepared for us by our ever-present ladies (and a couple of blokes) was washed down with a generous amount of free drinks, also self funded as above.

Hervey Bay's Reg King and his Renegades provided the toe-tapping music and we saw lots of people up dancing and prancing, enjoying themselves.

The major prize, a set of bowls provided by our sponsors Taylor Bowls went to the "Birthday Boy" Bob Harvey. Lucky duck, I was sure I'd win them.

As Reg remarked to me at night's end, it was a great night and all concerned with fund raising, sponsors and the self help club members should be heartily congratulated. …
