JULIE and Lex are selling 13 Lindsay St, Alexandra Headland.

How long have you owned this property and where did you move from? After living in several canal homes and at Alex Shores, we bought the block to build our perfect lifestyle home eight years ago. It had been part of a larger parcel of land that Melbourne developers bought and subdivided into three lots. We were the first cab off the rank and chose this one for the wider frontage. Our plans included a master suite and spacious living areas on the ground level so the land dimensions suited us best. Even so, we juggled the house plans so the living and outdoor areas could flow easily.

What was the attraction? Location so close to the beach and the fact we could build a unique home so well suited to our lifestyle. Our design is more classic and timeless than modern. This is so convenient and the garden is easy to manage while still a lovely place to enjoy.

Where is your favourite space? The living area. If you sit in the corner chair, the mirror reflects the outdoor living zone and pool area. The outdoor and pool area exudes a tropical feel and is like an extension of our living room, just like being in a villa which could be anywhere in the world. While it is all quite spacious, the house is also very private.

What will you miss most? The Sunshine Coast full stop. After 41 years we have many friends we'll be sorry to move away from. But at the same time we are looking forward to the next chapter in our lives.

Apart from the social aspect we will miss this house and the indoor outdoor living zones where we dine every night. It's such a magical place to entertain as well as sit quietly and take in the ambience.

How long did it take you to prepare the property for sale? It was almost a month while we decluttered and perfected the presentation. In all honesty we could have, and maybe should have, sped that up.

What does it take to be ready to show? …
