Teen Accused of Trying to Run Down Cop Granted Bail

A TEENAGER charged with attempted murder after he allegedly tried to run down a policeman at Jandowae earlier this month has been released on bail on condition he live with relatives in Kingaroy.

Jydean Lucas Gash, 18, has been charged with attempted murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, threatening violence and obstructing police stemming from the March 20 incident.

On Thursday during his bail application, Brisbane Supreme Court heard police pulled Gash's vehicle over on High St for a random breath test and he allegedly threatened the policeman.

It is alleged he then turned his vehicle sharply and reversed it towards the officer before crashing it into a nearby police vehicle.

The court heard Gash then allegedly accelerated towards the officer, forcing him to move out of the way to avoid being struck, before speeding off.

Defence barrister Stephen Kissick said Gash had spent the past 13 days behind bars and there were arrangements in place for him to live away from Jandowae if bail was granted. …
