THE article regarding the proposed Aldi store to be built on the "William omas Rest Garden" on Acklam Road: this is a very pleasant part of Whinney Banks, in fact the last piece of green space in the area.

I am not against the Aldi store, such a facility could benet the community, but only yards away there is a vast amount of land owned by Bellway that has been standing idle for 10 years.

In 2009 Whinney Banks Youth and Community Centre was demolished to make way for Bellway Acklam Green. Development, with a promise of a new community centre.

is new community centre did not materialise and the space where the community centre stood is still barren after six years.

How much longer are the residents of Whinney Banks going to be abused and deprived of the basic facilities other parts of the town take for granted.

Please! Please! Can the children of this area have some breathing space.

No community facilities. No library, no park, no pub, nothing. …
