NEIL HARRIS has got Millwall believing again. The Lions are still staring into the abyss of League One but their interim manager has provided hope of avoiding relegation.

"Everyone is right behind everything the manager is trying to do and we are going to fight for every point," said Ed Upson ahead of tomorrow's game against Watford at The Den that will have huge implications at both ends of the Championship table.

Millwall, seven points from safety with a game in hand, need a result in the battle for survival while Watford are looking to maintain their push for automatic promotion.

"It is a big game but we have got that belief back now," said midfielder Upson. "The manager has given us a sense of freedom on the pitch and fun in training and that has given everyone confidence. He tells people what their jobs are and makes them feel good about themselves.

"You want to do well for him and the reaction has been brilliant."

Millwall have given themselves a chance of staying up with five points from four games since Harris replaced Ian Holloway.

They beat Charlton 2-1 in their last match to end a run of more than five months without a home win and will be hoping to close the gap tomorrow to 21st-placed Rotherham, who travel to high-flying Middlesbrough.

"We obviously knew the manager from before but when someone new comes in, everyone ups their game a little bit and tries a little bit harder," added Upson.

"Our fans expect us to put up a good fight and none of us wants to get relegated, so we will keep fighting until it is over. We have still got a chance and we are not going to give up.

"Of course, we look at the table but we are trying not to get too bogged down by it and we are just taking it one game at a time.

"Against Charlton we showed true character, which I think the manager has instilled in the squad, and there is a real sense of belief here. …
