I NEVER thought I would care so much about someone else eating habits until I had a child. Not only is it the increasing number of food allergies and intolerances found in kids these days, but also the dangers of highly processed foods and the higher risk of obesity in kids that had me questioning every meal I put in front of my daughter.

When my daughter started solids it was simple rice cereal and homemade pureed sweet potato and it of course grew from there. I followed all the recommendations, freaked out about eggs and peanuts and held off until 11 months to introduce cow's milk in her bottles and even now at nearly 12months my daughter still hasn't had honey.

So my daughter's first Easter was well, really a non-event. The way my husband and I wish to raise out daughter, gifts and presents at Easter just aren't our thing. I asked grandparents, aunts and uncles not to buy gifts, though some how she did end up with a pair of winter Pj's and a bright pink track suit set. …
