THE founder of Toowoomba's Stonestreet's Coaches, Keith Stonestreet, yesterday surrendered the bus licence he has held for 42 years.

Stonestreet's Coaches started operations in Toowoomba in the early 1990s.

However Mr Stonestreet has been active in the industry since the 1970s, previously operating a number of small bus companies in regional New South Wales.

The Stonestreet family purchased the Centenary Heights and Middle Ridge Bus Service in Toowoomba in the early 1990s, operating a regular town service and school runs.

The company grew rapidly to include additional local school runs, as well as school runs in Roma and Dalby.

Over the past 10 years current directors Phil Stonestreet and Bev Mules have further expanded the company to include project and charter bussing, a large head office in Toowoomba, permanent depots in Roma, Gladstone and Ipswich and a large travel division.

Managing director of Stonestreet's Coaches Phil Stonestreet explained that his father had continued to drive school runs as recently as 18 months ago and still remained active in the business as a member of the board. …
