JEMMA Lowe insisted she could do no more after she was pipped to 100m butterfly gold on day four of the British Swimming Championships.

After claiming 200m butterfly silver on the opening day at the London Aquatics Centre, Hartlepool-born Lowe, pictured, was back for more on Friday as she set her sights on gold at half that distance.

However she once again was forced to settle for second best as s h e touched home in 58.07 seconds, with Rachael Kelly taking the gold.

It means that Lowe looks unlikely to be selected to travel to Russia for this summer's World Championships, but admits she couldn't have given any more in the capital.

"I knew it was going to be fast as we all have similar personal best times and we all wanted that first place," said Lowe.

"I gave it my best shot and I couldn't have asked for any more. …
