Billys Crk. Reserve Not Be Transferred

The Grafton Pastures Protection Board has refused to transfer its reserve at Billys Creek, on the Grafton-Armidale road, about 50 miles from Grafton, to the New South Wales Forestry Commission.

An application was received by the board at its meeting in Grafton yesterday.

The Forestry Commission wants the reserve for addition to Cloud's Creek State Forest.

Directors of the board spoke strongly against the revocation of the reserve for transfer to the Commission.

Earlier in the meeting, they had scheduled plans for the building of the dam and other improvements to the reserve.

Street Lighting for Jacaranda

A proposition inviting business houses in Prince street to contribute to the 1965 Jacaranda Festival street lighting fund was made at last night's meeting of the festival committee.

The president, Mr. G. Blood, said the committee had not yet sent letters to business houses soliciting their support in providing [pounds sterling]800 necessary for street lighting. …
