THE leaders of a school which was this week rated "inadequate" by Ofsted have outlined their seven-step plan to turn it into a good school - within seven weeks.

Despite a damning report criticising achievement and the "exceptionally high" number of excluded pupils and behaviour, Ormesby School's new headteacher Lynn James was praised by the watchdog for bringing "exceptionally strong leadership" and setting it on to a "path of improvement".

Sir Michael said: "We are keen to work closely with Mrs James to continue the good work done since she became headteacher and we are pleased that this was rightly recognised in the latest Ofsted report. "Robert Tarn, executive principal, will work closely with Mrs James to ensure the recent dramatic improvement in results seen in Outwood Academy Acklam is achieved for the children in Ormesby".

Staff from the trust will begin working with the school immediately and will be involved in the day-today running of the academy once current Year 11 students have completed their exams.

The seven focus points for the school are: Leadership with vision and effi-|cacy; Quality in the classroom; | Curriculum; | Systematic monitoring and inter-|vention; Systems, protocols and process-|es;Continuous professional devel-|opment ; Praising of staff and students. …
