At the TAA's Killingworth Lake the large carp have also come on to the feed, with a 20lb specimen topping a five-fish haul taken by an angler fishing overnight.

Nocturnal fishing on Killingworth is productive but all members must book sessions in advance by ringing Andy Mackintosh on 07974 781451. There is no charge.

An improving picture continues at Whittle Dene, too, as the water temperatures begin to rise and fish become more active in larger numbers. C Anderson recorded a 70-fish mixed catch of roach, dace and perch, and Roy Small took a perch, four roach and 27 gudgeon.

Big Waters AC may have their High Stand and main complex at Seaton Burn closed at present but that doesn't mean there is no sport to be had. …
