It's been four years since your last tour. Are you looking forward to singing on stage again? IT'S been quite a while, not because I didn't want to do it, but it has just been finding the time. I've been on the US TV show Arrow for the last few years and then there is the other stuff I've been doing - getting the album You Raise Me Up finished, conventions and everything.

To do the tour we had to sit down two years ago and think about not doing anything but the tour this summer. I had to block the time out and just get the album out there.

Do you miss touring? I MISS it, but I'm always doing live stuff like panto and shows. I enjoy live performing. With TV you film a show and get the gratification maybe a year later when it is screened.

When you perform live the gratification is instant and intensive.

Do you get recognised a lot in America? ARROW is filmed in Canada and I just finished the last series the other week. My husband Scott and I decided to do a road trip and drive from Vancouver to our home in Palm Springs and as a little joke we put online 'Find JB' like Where's Waldo? (Laughs) And people found us. They found us in the most remote places. Some drove two hours to come and see us and say hello and take a selfie. They've come up to us in supermarkets and everything. It's been surprising.

What are your fans like? DOCTOR Who and Torchwood fans are very loyal no matter what and now a younger generation are discovering the shows in the States.

Arrow seems to have a malecentred fan base. (Laughs) Scott thinks it's great. These tall, handsome, young men walk up to us saying 'You're bad**s.' Don't get me wrong, we don't mind the ladies coming up to us as well, but the guys are more our thing.

Do you get homesick for the UK? WE RENT out our property in London now because we didn't want it sitting empty when I was doing the show in the States. Initially the plan before Arrow was to live in our home in Wales and commute to London when we needed to.

How much has your life changed over the last few years? I'M ALWAYS surprised how things happen. I had a feeling Arrow would be successful from the moment I first read the script. …
