69-Year-Old Hit by Single Decker Bus on High Street; Witness Claims Pensioner Had Been Driving a Mobility Scooter

A PENSIONER has been taken to hospital after being hit by a bus on Stockton High Street.

A 69-year-old man was in collision with a single decker bus just before 2.25pm yesterday at the spot known as Maxwell's Corner.

A witness said the man had been driving a mobility scooter. However, police could not confirm this.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "Police attended Stockton High Street at 2.25pm where a 69-year-old man had been in collision with a single decker bus.

"He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees by ambulance with unconfirmed injuries." It is the sixth collision between a bus and a member of the public on the street in recent months.

Kelly Marie Evis, 28, died in hospital 15 days after being involved in a collision with a bus on September 15 last year.

Hannah Baxter, 32, from Thornaby, sustained multiple injuries after being knocked down by a bus at Maxwell's Corner on October 21. …
