IT'S COMMON for those fortunate enough to live in a waterfront home in Noosa Waters to have neighbours on boats pull up at their jetties and hop off for a sunset drink.

But last weekend a visitor of a different kind hopped out of the water and on to a jetty - a large kangaroo.

Pat and Terry Quinn had seen the neighbours across the canal looking towards their property in Shorehaven Dv but didn't realise they were watching a kangaroo swimming merrily along the canal until their doorbell rang and a neighbour told them the roo had jumped up on the revetment wall next to their jetty.

"We didn't know what to do," Pat said. "We watched to see where it would go and it took itself off to the front garden. It didn't seem stressed.

"Australia Zoo said there was not a lot they could do.

"They said if they came out to move the kangaroo it could get stressed and go into shock. …
