Rain Forecast a Mixed Bag for Region's Farmers

BRING out the brollies because the weather experts say it's going to be a wet day.

A strong upper trough moving across the region is expected to bring heavy rain today leading into tomorrow.

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned rainfall of up to 150mm in some parts of the Darling Downs could lead to flash flooding.

The forecast has prompted warnings from Queensland Fire and Emergency Service South Western Region Assistant Commissioner Tom Dawson, urging people to play it safe in the coming days and avoid floodwaters.

"Choose an alternative route if possible or wait for waters to recede and never attempt to enter floodwater either on foot or in a vehicle," he said.

"Floodwater could mask hidden dangers such as debris, eroded areas that are deeper than they appear, or strong currents. …
