MURDER vicitim Tipu Sultan's dazed brother has begged for help to catch his gun killers.

Mahsum Sultan, joined by his mother and father Aleya Begum and Amin Miah, spoke for the first time at a press conference at South Shields police station.

Mahsum told how Tipu was the "foundation" of their family, and that the most difficult thing was having to tell his children, Ilyas and Aeysha, he's not coming home.

A 35-year-old man from Newcastle was arrested on Sunday and questioned on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, before being released on bail.

Mahsum added: "Tipu was a family man. He was loved and respected both within our family and in the communities of Sunderland and South Shields.

"We are grateful for the support we have received from both communities and we thank anyone who has already provided information to police to help catch Tipu's killer.

"However, we would ask that anyone who still has information regarding Tipu's murder to come forward. …
