Farbrace Admits He Can Understand Yorkshire's Pain; ENGLAND CRICKET

ENGLAND assistant coach Paul Farbrace sympathises with his old county Yorkshire as they cast envious glances at their top stars ferrying drinks in the West Indies.

Having won last season's County Championship, the White Rose provided six players for the ongoing Test tour of the Caribbean, but only Joe Root and Gary Ballance have played in the first two matches of the series.

Wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow, opener Adam Lyth, paceman Liam Plunkett and leg-spinner Adil Rashid have all been reduced to peripheral roles, and Yorkshire even tested the water to see if England would give any of them an early flight home. Farbrace would be an obvious point of contact, having worked as second XI coach at Headingley until December 2013, but he has been able to offer nothing more than words of comfort.

"It has been frustrating for them. They have lost a couple of their overseas players already and they see players sitting over here not playing," he said.

"Obviously they want to build on what they achieved last year, which was winning the Championship, so it's a tough one but it is also great that they produce a lot of players for England. …
