A SUSPICIOUS fire burnt a newly renovated two-storey Targinie home to the ground just days before the owners moved in.

The 101 Spresser Rd home only needed a lick of paint before it was completed but the renovations meant nobody was inside the home when it burnt down yesterday morning.

Gladstone Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Peachey said they believed it was deliberately lit.

"A person's house has been completely destroyed to the ground along with all belongings inside," he said.

"The house has been floored to the ground and cannot be renovated anymore."

Yesterday Fire and Forensic investigators combed the charred remains to determine what accelerants were used and where the fire started.

The property had signs at the gate warning they had CCTV cameras and Det Snr Sergt Peachey said they would be using the footage in the investigation.

"Due to the remote location if persons were going to go out there to start a fire, it would be for a specific reason," he said. …
