Student a Star on Multiple Stages; Bass to Showcase Skills Nationally and Internationally

ATHLETICS: The Scots PGC College hurdler Emily Bass will compete in Cairns, Amsterdam and London in the next month as her sporting star continues to shine.

She will head to Cairns tomorrow to compete for Australia in the Oceania Championships.

Bass, who is a boarder from Dirranbandi, will compete in the 100m and 400m hurdles in the under-18 age group.

She was selected in her first Australian team after finishing fourth in the 400m hurdles at the Australian Junior Championships in Sydney.

Down the years, Bass has won state and national medals in hurdling.

She first competed in little athletics at Dirranbandi and trains in Toowoomba twice a week under coach Neil McCoy.

The Oceanic championships start on Friday and go to Sunday.

Bass is a prefect and clan captain at Scots PGC and stars in many sports.

She has represented Darling Downs in touch and this year in the Queensland Reds Youth Rugby Sevens team.

The Queensland team finished second in the national championships in Sydney and Bass was then selected as part of the Queensland Academy of Sport Emerging Women's Sevens squad. …
