NOW 20 days into an expected six-month mission, Dave Alley has covered more than 1400km on foot since starting his Race Around Australia 2 in Lismore.

The police officer, who is running more than 14,000km around Australia to raise awareness and funds for the White Cloud Foundation, which aims to help people with depression, said things are only looking positive at this point.

Just past the $15,000 mark with fundraising, they have received much support during the first three weeks of this venture, said his RAA2 manager, David Lees.

"He's travelling well; what's really positive is that is maintaining his weight," Mr Lees said, as opposed to when he cycled on the first Race Around Australia in 2011, when he lost 10kg in the first two weeks.

"He uses about 6000 calories a day, so his nutrition and hydration is important.

"He's got some general fatigue, as you would expect - he's covering the length of about two marathons a day, but overall he's doing really well. …
