Tesla Owner Pumped to Prove Critics Wrong

MARC Talloen was sick of hearing people tell him that electric cars were no good for long distance driving, so he embarked on a mission to prove them wrong.

Yesterday the 64-year-old revved up at Rockhampton's The Power Shop to recharge, on his mission to drive from Brisbane to Cairns in his white polished Tesla.

With a heavy environmental background in waste water engineering and agriculture, it is no wonder Marc is passionate about educating people on renewable alternatives.

He said he wanted people to consider the positives of electric cars over traditional fuel-fed transport.

"I want to prove it is possible to do this type of distance without big infrastructure," he said.

"Many people buy this car because they have the environmental motivation but, because the infrastructure is not there yet, they're struggling with this kind of distance; but I am proving it is not a problem at all.

"I expect to arrive tomorrow night in either Innisfail or Cairns. …
