ALTHOUGH the Cumberland fixture had to be called off on Saturday due to a waterlogged course, there were no problems for yesterday's Bilsdale card at Easingwold.

Craig Hoggart, 38, has made a fairytale return to the saddle after a gap of 18 years and Knightofthegarter gave him a sixth winner of the season in the first Open Maiden Race. His mount was still 10 lengths behind leader Fairy Mix approaching the last, but finished like an express train to hit the front inside the last 100 yards and score by three lengths. The win initiated a training double for Sheriff Hutton handler Stephanie Easterby.

Chris Dawson recently rode his 100th winner between the flags and got his afternoon off to the perfect start with victory on Robin Tate's 12-year-old gelding Code Blue in the Members Race.

Seeyouincourt gave a front-running masterclass under Dawson's younger brother John in the Restricted Race and never looked like being caught after quickening the tempo from four out, eventually coming home four lengths ahead of Anddante. …
