Men out to Slam Dunk Their Way into Play-Offs

MOUNTAINEERS men's coach Anthony Corcoran believes his side's winning run is "money in the bank" as they target a return to the QBL play-offs.

Toowoomba is enjoying its best start to a season since 2008 after knocking over pool rivals South West Metro (93-85) and Ipswich (110-83) in the opening rounds.

Corcoran didn't want to get too caught up in the hype of their impressive back-to-back victories.

The Mountaineers went 1-1 to start last season before failing to win another game, while both the men's and women's teams lost their first three games in 2013 when they made the play-offs.

But the coach was confident Toowoomba would only continue to improve as the players work on their combinations.

"I think the first two games were important games for us. Getting a good start was something we needed to do," Corcoran said.

"I said to the players, if we can take care of the pool games, it's probably a bit like having money in the bank while other teams are still working out their rosters. …
