Elvis Performer Feels the Rock 'N' Roll Love

STILL considered The King of rock 'n' roll, Elvis Presley remains a favourite name in contemporary music.

Singer Mark Anthony will offer a two-hour intimate concert with Presley's most-loved songs, all the magical hits that inspired and shook the world.

We had a chat to Mark Anthony (pictured at left), who is currently in the USA, about the show and his visit to Lismore.

What is your earliest personal memory of Elvis or one of his songs?

My earliest memory of Elvis is being sat in front of a stereo at my cousin's house and he placed headphones on my head, told me not to move and played Elvis' Promised Land Album from 1975. I would have been about three years old.

In your research about him, have you discovered a little-known fact that surprised you?

I read in a little book about Elvis that he was losing his eyesight as he was ageing and all because of his dying his hair black.

The chemicals that were used in hair colour in those days would run out of his hair when he sweated on stage and would go into his eyes, causing glaucoma. …
