Happy Hippies Step Up to Plate for 2015 Rally Fun

WITH their hippie skirts, dresses, pants and trousers all packed and their boho bags bulging with tie-dye and beads, Allora's Happy Hippies - Bev O'Halloran, Kaye Wilson and Debbie Meddleton -are gearing up for yet another Great Endeavour Rally.

The intrepid ladies in their 1971 HQ Holden sedan are preparing for another challenge of thousands of kilometres cross country to raise much- needed funds for the Endeavour Foundation, raising dust and dollars for people with a disability.

The 28th Great Endeavour Rally adventure will start in Redcliffe, gateway to Moreton Bay in the outer northern suburbs of Brisbane, travelling through the heart of Queensland's golden west en route to the tropical Whitsundays, stopping over in Airlie Beach, before heading south to Australia's beef capital, Rockhampton.

Bev, Kaye and Debbie and their fellow rally drivers depart on July 17 and return July 25, also visiting centres such as Bell, Augathella, Middlemount and Stanage Bay along the route, before taking the checked flag at Rockhampton.

Great Endeavour Rally road boss Jamie Lawson reckons the 2015 Queensland Great Endeavour Rally is just too good to miss.

"The 2015 course will have the key ingredients that keep everyone coming back," he said.

"Remote rugged roads and tracks through the heart of the Australian bush, with plenty of scenic and secret out-of-the-way places that can only be accessed by travelling on the Great Endeavour Rally".

Allora's Happy Hippies made history in 2013 after successfully confronting the challenges of the inaugural NSW Great Endeavour Rally.

Not only did they arrive home safely after travelling more than 5200km but triumphantly with four significant awards in recognition of their efforts.

After winding their way through such far-flung outback towns as Coolabar, Hungerford, Tibooburra, Packsaddle, Cameron's Corner, Tilpa, Condobolin and back to Bathurst, the psychedelic trio won awards for the Best Presented Car, First place in Class A, First place in the Cruise section and Fifth Highest Fundraisers. …
