Don't Believe the Hype in Run-Up to Game, Says Carver

JOHN CARVER has urged his players to avoid taking in any of the build-up to the Premier League's final weekend of the season.

The Newcastle United head coach does not want to see his players sucked in by the hype ahead of the mammoth clash with West Ham at St James' Park.

Failure to beat the Hammers, coupled with a win for Hull City against Manchester United, would see Newcastle relegated.

Speaking in his pre-match Press conference, Carver said today: "We have to deal with it.

"I am looking forward to the challenge this week.

"There is going to be a lot of media hype this week, which we expect.

"I had a chat with the guys and asked them to keep their TVs off football.

"And try to stay off social media or Twitter - watch wrestling or whatever you want to watch but don't watch football.

"Sometimes mentally that can fatigue you and put a bit of pressure on you. …
