ANNASTACIA Palaszczuk has been delivered a fantastic opportunity this weekend.

All she has to do is listen. Listen to a large group of passionate people at the Community Cabinet and hopefully provide a mature, considered response.

I am talking about the strong community support behind the $600million Great Keppel Island redevelopment.

The sticking point to date has been Tower's claim that it needs a casino to secure project funding and the State Government's refusal to even consider a gaming licence.

The Labor Government's handling of this issue to date has been poor at best.

Some might describe it as stubbornly arrogant.

Its treatment of Keppel MP Brittany Lauga and the local supporters of this project has been almost childish.

Mrs Lauga put a GKI casino licence on the table during the state election campaign and then immediately after Labor's shock win, but it took the government months before it finally worked out what the deal was before it abruptly came out with its line that "there are no casino licences available" -- end of discussion. …
