Music Doesn't Stop at Con

BRASS, strings, woodwind, percussion: There were instruments and musicians everywhere you looked at the third Music Marathon at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium of Music.

Saturday's Music Marathon at the Keen Street, Lismore, School of Music saw students and teachers performing simultaneously for 12 hours straight to raise money.

Executive Director of the Con, Anita Bellman, said the day went really well, with great music and a good turnout.

"It's been lovely," she said.

"It's just a really great opportunity for our students to perform."

The team was aiming to raise $7000 through the marathon, upping the records from previous years.

The funds raised through the marathon would go into the Con's building and resources fund, Ms Bellman said.

Some things in mind for the money were new music stands, orchestral seats, and some work on the windows at the rear of the building, which have been damaged by vandalism. …
