Jacaranda Festival Street Lighting Plan

Grafton business houses will be approached to contribute, on a frontage basis, towards the cost of providing street lighting for the 1965 Jacaranda Festival.

This recommendation was received by the Jacaranda Festival Committee from its finance committee at last night's meeting.

With a maximum contribution of 2/6 a foot frontage in any block, the festival lighting problem could be solved, the meeting was told.

With 100 per cent responses from business houses, even very large individual frontages could be lit for only a few pounds outlay.

Without a 100 per cent response the Festival Committee cannot meet the expense for festival lighting.

Business houses will receive a letter giving a brief explanation of the costs.

This would put them in a position to assess their frontage and estimate the cost of any contribution to the street lighting fund. All contributions for street lighting will be publicly acknowledged. …
