Black Rabbit Plays at Haven Fresh Track for Black Rabbit

IN AN alternative direction from his work as frontman for Tijuana Cartel, Paul George will bring his soothing, earthy tunes under persona Black Rabbit George to Murwillumbah this week. The Byron Shire resident last month released his debut single Dusty Fingers under the new persona.

The decision to perform in Murwillumbah came from personal connections to the town.

"A good friend of mine is a chef (at Haven) and I just thought it would be cool," George said.

"I have a lot of friends around Murwillumbah."

He said performing more intimate shows on his Dusty Fingers tour had allowed him to find his feet as Black Rabbit George.

"I'm usually performing in a band that gets people dancing".

The deeply intimate, soulful tracks of Black Rabbit George offered a challenge, he said.

George has drawn some inspiration from Irish and American roots for his smooth melodies.

He said this project had allowed him to delve into sometimes heavier topics in his lyrics, with some "darker themes" rearing their heads. …
