Wattles Warriors Play for Trophy Final Spot

RUGBY LEAGUE: Currently level in second place on the Toowoomba Rugby League premiership ladder with Highfields Eagles, Wattles head to Pittsworth this evening to take on the Pittsworth Danes in an all-important A-grade clash.

A winning result could see current premiers Wattles book a place in next Sunday's mid-season Madsen-Rasmussen Trophy final against Gatton.

If that scenario occurs it will be a replay of last year's trophy final when Gatton defeated Wattles 37-33 in extra time in what was a cracker of a game.

Coach Luke Duggan is confident his side can finish ahead of Pittsworth tonight and advance to the trophy final, despite the absence of usual captain and halfback Matt Duggan but "this weekend is also going to be somewhat frustrating as we are struggling for numbers due to injury".

Regular centre Joel Koina will don Matt Duggan's number seven shirt, with new face to the team Michael Purcell running on in the centres while hooker Mark Gordon and front rower Chris Warden are under injury clouds. …
