Hunt Continues after Stabbing of Teenager in City

POLICE are still looking for the attackers who stabbed a teenager in front of Newcastle city centre shoppers.

The 19-year-old victim left a trail of blood as he staggered through the streets of Newcastle after a broaddaylight attack at Old Eldon Square. And today, after a 17-year-old youth was released with no further action, police have said they are looking for two other people in connection with the incident.

The unidentified victim was attacked at around 6pm on Saturday, sustaining injuries to his waist and face.

Shocked witnesses told how he ran bleeding from Old Eldon Square, through the Eldon Square shopping centre, down Nelson Street and Market Street, before collapsing on a bench outside Carluccio's restaurant on Grey Street.

Though he is still in hospital at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary, police say the young man's condition is now stable and his injuries "are not thought to be life-threatening".

A doorman at a nearby bar, who did not want to be named, said he believed the lad had suffered multiple injuries. …
