Ipswich Women Respond to Pressure Situation

WALKING in to the Ipswich Force change rooms at half-time being down by 13 after a messy half, we were faced with a question.

Do we let this game continue to slip away from us like we did against Bundaberg, or do we step up, back ourselves, and play with pride and finish strong?

The latter choice was the case.

At the start of the third quarter, we came out firing.

Our pressure defence intensified, the talk from the bench and our supporters was so loud it was as if we were playing at home. And as a team we lifted.

We responded by getting defensive stops and rewarding ourselves by getting some great baskets.

We played for each other, diving on loose balls, chasing the rebounds, doing the little things and draining some big shots.

As a result of our change of attitude, effort and mentality we added 26 points to the scoreboard and limited them to six by the end of the third quarter.

You could visibly see a difference in the body language of the Brisbane players and the hush from the Brisbane supporters with our bench and our Force supporters out cheering them. …
